ÖZET
 
Osteopetrozis (Albers-Schönberg hastalığı), osteoblast ve osteoklastlar arasındaki dengenin, osteoblastlar lehine bozulması sonucu iskelet sisteminde sklerozis ve frajilite ile seyreden nadir, herediter bir hastalıktır. Malign infantil tip, intermediate tip, tip 1 ve tip 2 adult otozomal dominant osteopetrozis olmak üzere dört tipi vardır. Intermediate osteopetrozis 10 yaşından önce ortaya çıkar ve prognozu diğer tiplere göre daha iyidir. Kemikte frajilite, kalvarial kalınlaşma, frontal kemikte çıkıklaşma ve uzama, kranial sinirlerde kompresyon, skolyoz, diş anomalileri, kemik iliği daralmasına bağlı anemi farklı düzeylerde görülmektedir. Bu olgu sunumunda intermediate osteopetrozis ve buna bağlı optik atrofi tespit edilen iki kardeşe ait oftalmik ve sistemik bulgular ortaya kondu.

Intermediate Osteopetrosis and Optic Atrophy: Clinical and Radiological Findings of Two Cases

SUMMARY
 
Osteopetrosis (Albers-Schönberg disease) is a rare hereditary disorder in which the osteoclastic activity is impaired. This impairment results in bony sclerosis and fragility. Four types of osteopetrosis have been described: Malign infantile type, intermediate type, and type 1 and 2 adult autosomal dominant osteopetrosis. Intermediate type appears before age 10, and has a better prognosis than the other types. Signs of the disease, such as bony sclerosis and skeletal fragility, hematopoietic insufficiency, disturbed tooth eruption, nerve entrapment syndromes, growth impairment, and scoliosis occur in different levels. In this case report, we aimed to present the ophthalmologic and systemic findings of two children with osteopetrosis.
