ÖZET

Amaç: Fitizik glob üzerine protez uygulaması sonuçlarını değerlendirmek
Gereç ve Yöntem: Ocak 1991 ile Nisan 2005 arasında protez istemiyle başvuran fitizis bulbili 145 hasta çalışma kapsamına alındı. Hastalarda protezin volüm defisitini düzeltmedeki etkinliği, protez hareketi, komplikasyonlar, protez ile ilgili problemler, ilave cerrahi, cerrah ve hasta memnuniyeti değerlendirildi
Bulgular: Yüzkırkbeş hastanın 79’u erkek, 66’sı kadın idi. Hastaların ortalama yaşı 32 (1-75) idi. Ortalama takip süresi 160 aydı. Yüzkırkbeş hastadan 122’si (%84.13) glob üzerine direkt uygulanan protezi kullanabildi. Bu grupta, rölatif enoftalmus miktarı hastaların %75.2’sinde tatminkar bulundu. Hastaların 72’sinde (%59) üst sulkus deformitesi yokken, 26’sında (%21.3) hafif idi. Protez hareketi hastaların % 92.7’sinde memnun edici idi. Hem hasta hem de cerrah açısından kozmetik memnuniyet %95’in üzerinde tespit edildi.
Sonuç: Küçülmüş göz üzerine herhangi bir ameliyat yapmaksızın protez uygulaması tatmin edicidir.

The Usage of Prosthesis Over Phthisis Bulbi

SUMMARY

Purpose: Our aim is to assess prospectively the results of fitting prosthesis over phthisis bulbi.
Material and Methods: 145 patients with phthisis bulbi who had referred for fitting prosthesis from January 1991 to April 2005 were included in this study. The patients were evaluated for the degree of volume replacement provided by the artificial eye, motility, complications, prosthesis fitting problems, additional surgery, cosmetic results and patient satisfaction.
Results: Out of 145 patients, there were 79 male and 66 female patients. The mean age was 32(1-75) years. The mean follow up period was 160 months. Out of 145 patients, 122 of them could use the prosthesis applied over shrinkage globe. Considering this group, amount of relative enophthalmos of artificial eye was found satisfactory in 75.2% of patients. While upper sulcus deformity was absent in 59.2% of patients, it was mild in 25% of them. Prosthesis motility was satisfactory in 92.7% of patients. It was determined that cosmetic satisfaction is 95% from the point of both patients and surgeon.
Conclusion: Fitting prosthesis over phthisis bulbi is satisfactory without surgical intervention.
