İris kistleri her ne kadar nadir olarak görülse de tanı ve tedavi zorlukları göstermektedir. 33 yaşında kadın hasta acil servise 1 aydır sağ gözünde hareket eden bir cisim olduğunu ve zaman zaman bu nedenle görme keskinliğinde azalma yaşadığını ifade ederek başvurdu. Yapılan oftalmolojik muayenesinde ön kamerada serbest yüzen kahverengi, oval şekilli iris kisti tespit edildi. Kist baş pozisyonuyla yer değiştirmekteydi. Hastanın semptomatik olması nedeniyle ND:YAG lazer kistotomi uygulandı. Takiplerinde bir komplikasyona rastlanmadı. Görme keskinlikleri her iki gözde tamdı. Serbest yüzen iris kistleri asemptomatik ve komplikasyonsuz iseler herhangi bir tedavi gerektirmezler. Bununla beraber, semptom verirse ve komplikasyonların gelişimine yol açarlarsa tedavi edilmelidirler. Nd:YAG lazer ile fotokoagülasyon bu tür olgularda başarılı ve güvenli olarak uygulanabilecek bir tedavi yöntemidir.

Iris cysts show diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties, although they are rare. A 33-year-old female patient was referred to the emergency department as a moving object for 1 month in the right eye and occasionally suffered a decrease in visual acuity. On the ophthalmological examination a brown, oval shaped iris cyst was found floating freely in the anterior chamber. The cyst was displaced by head position. Because the patient was symptomatic ND: YAG laser cystotomy was performed. No complications was found during controls. Visual acuity was complete in both eyes. Free floating iris cysts are asymptomatic and uncomplicated, requiring no treatment. However, they should be treated if they give symptoms and lead to the development of complications. Photocoagulation with Nd: YAG laser is a safe and successful treatment method in such cases.
