ÖZET

Amaç: Psödoeksfoliasyon (PEX) Sendromu saptanan senil katarakt olgularında katarakt cerrahisinin göz içi basıncına (GİB) etkisini incelemek.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Kliniğimizde Ekim 2003-Mart 2004 tarihleri arasında katarakt operasyonu geçiren PEX sendromlu 43 hastanın 43 gözü incelendi. Hastaların preoperatif GİB'ı ile postoperatif 6. aydaki GİB'ı değerleri karşılaştırıldı
Bulgular: Postoperatif 6. aydaki GİB'ları preoperatif dönemdekilere göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı derecede düşük bulundu (p<0.001). GİB değişimi açısından fakoemülsifikasyon+göz içi lens implantasyonu ve planlı ekstra kapsüler katarakt ekstraksiyonu+göz içi lens implantasyonu ameliyatları arasında fark görülmedi (p>0.05).
Sonuç: Psödoeksfoliasyon sendromlu katarakt hastalarında göz içi lens implantasyonlu katarakt cerrahisinin göz içi basıncı üzerinde düşürücü etkisi olduğu görüldü.

The Effect of Cataract Surgery on Intraocular Pressure in
Patients with Pseudoexfoliation Syndrome

SUMMARY

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of cataract surgery on intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with pseudoexfoliation (PEX) syndrome.
Patients and Methods: The 43 eyes of 43 PEX syndrome patients who had a cataract surgery in our clinic between October 2003 and March 2004 were included in the study. Preoperative and postoperative sixth month IOP measurements were compared.
Results: The IOP values measured at sixth month of the postoperative were significantly lower than preoperative values (p<0.001). These was no significant difference between the phacoemulsification+intraocular lens implantation and extracapsular cataract extraction+intraocular lens implantation surgeries with respect to IOP change (p>0.05).
Conclusion: It was concluded that the cataract surgery with lens implantation has a reducing effect on the IOP in patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome.
