ÖZET
Amaç: Akut bakteri konjonktiviti (ABK) tedavisinde %1.25 povidon iyodini lomefloksasin (Okacin %0.3, Novartis Ophthalmics) ile karşılaştırmak.
Gereç ve Yöntemler: Hastaların klinik bulguları daha önceden belirlenmiş bir protokol ile derecelendirildi. Hastalar, povidon-iyodin veya lomefloksasin almak üzere iki ayrı gruba ayrıldı.
Bulgular: Hastaların 25’i lomefloksasin 23’ü ise povidon grubunda idi. Her iki ilaç birinci ve ikinci kontrollerde benzer düzeyde oküler bulgularda iyileşme meydana getirdi (p>0.05, p>0.05). Doktor ve hastalar tarafından bildirilen, daha iyi olma veya tam iyi olma oranı her iki grupta aynıydı (p>0.05, p>0.05).
Sonuç: Povidon-iyodin %1.25 ABK tedavisinde lomefloksasin %0.3 kadar etkilidir.

The Comparison of 1.25% Povidone Iodine and 0.3% Lomefloxacin for the
Treatment of Acute Bacterial Conjunctivitis.
SUMMARY
Purpose: To compare the efficacies of 1.25% povidone iodine and lomefloxacin (3 mg/ml) (Okacin 0.3%, Novaritis Ophthalmics) for the treatment of acute bacterial conjunctivitis.
Material and Methods: Patients were diagnosed according to a predefined protocol, and they were randomized to receive povidon iodine or lomefloxacin.
Results: There were 25 patients in the lomefloxacin group, and 23 patients in the povidone group. Both of the drugs were equally effective at eliminating the signs and symptoms at the first and second controls (p>0.05 and p>0.05 respectively). Self-reported and the physician reported relief were equal among groups (p>0.05 and p>0.05 respectively).
Conclusion: Povidone-iodine 1.25% is effective as lomefloxacin 0.3% in the treatment of acute bacterial conjunctivitis.
