ÖZET
Esansiyel iris atrofisinin sebebi tam olarak bilinmemektedir. Campbell’in membran teorisine göre kornea endotelinin anomalisi ön kamara açısı ve iris yüzeyinde bir membranın yayılımına neden olur. Hücresel membranın kornea ödemi ve glokom sebebi olduğu düşünülmektedir. Yazımızda, esansiyel iris atrofili 46 yaşındaki kadın hastanın histolojik bulguları ve klinik özellikleri sunulmuştur. Olgunun, speküler mikroskopik ve histolojik bulguları endotelyal bir sebebi destekler yöndedir.

Essential Iris Atrophy: A Case Report
SUMMARY
The main cause of essential iris atrophy is unknown. According to the Campbell’s membrane theory, the abnormality of the corneal endothelium leads to extension of a membrane across the anterior chamber angle and onto the iris surface. The cellular membrane is thought to be responsible for the development of corneal edema and glaucoma. Hystologic findings and clinical features of a 46 year old woman with essential iris atrophy were reported. The specular microscopic and hystologic findings of this patient favor an endothelial cause for the condition.
