ÖZET

Çok hücreli canlılarda homeostazis, hücre çoğalması ve apopitozis arasındaki bir denge ile sürdürülür. Programlı hücre ölümü olan apopitozis, hasarlanmış veya yaşlanmış hücrelerin eliminasyonunda ve böylece doku bütünlüğünün sürdürülmesinde temel mekanizmadır. Apopitozis morfolojik ve biyokimyasal karekteristikleri ile nekrozisten (patolojik hücre ölümü) ayrılmaktadır. Apopitozis gastrointestinal epitelyal hücre döngüsünde önemli bir rol oynar. Mide mukozası yüzey epitel hücreleri gastrik lümene sürekli dökülürler ve fizyolojik koşullar altında 3-5 gün içerisinde tamamen yenilenirler. Yapılan çalışmalar, çeşitli gastrik stresörler (etanol, hidrojen peroksit ve hidroklorik asit gibi), infeksiyon ve bazı stres durumlarının (suya batırma ve hareketsizlik, soğuk-hareketsizlik vb), mide mukozal hücrelerinde apopitozis oluşturabildiğini göstermiştir.

Apoptosis and Stomach

SUMMARY

In multicellular organisms, homeostasis is maintained by a balance between cells proliferation and apoptosis. Apoptosis, a programmed cell death, is an essential mechanism of eliminating damaged ora ged cells and thus to maintain tissue integrity. Apoptosis can be distinguished by morphological and biochemical characteristics from necrosis (pathological cell death).
Apoptosis plays a major role in gastrointestinal epithelial cell turnover. In the stomach, mucosal surface epithelial cells are constantly exfoliating to the gastric lumen and completely replaced within 3-5 days under physiological conditions.
Several reports have shown that various gastric stressors (ethanol, hydrogen peroxide and hydrochloric acid), infection and several stress conditions (water immersion and restraint stress, cold- restraint stress )  were able to reproduce apoptosis in gastric mucosal cells.
